branton and his wives !!
Tumblr media
lore about them under the cut !!
okokok so time for me to tell you about these wonderful gorgeous women!!!! let's start with Nancy:
Nancy Branton is Tod's wife, they met in their early twenties, and got married not long after Tod graduated from the FBI academy. Nancy is soft-spoken and rather stoic, and in those rare moments where she laughs, it makes Tod absolutely melt. she was close with Hanratty, as well as his ex-wife Lianne (OC of @yellowandnothing), but after the divorce, she visits Lianne every other month, and has barely seen Hanratty (he's awkward and grieving and too scared to reach out). Cod is close with everyone in the Branton household, and Nancy is no exception. she sees him as family, and cares for him immensely, making her presence known in small, quiet ways whenever he's around. lighting candles around the house, leaving little baked goods and such on the tables— her actions have always spoken louder than her words. she's far more in touch with the Chinese part of her family than Tod is, (they are both part Cantonese) and she's trying really hard to help him reconnect with that part of his identity— specifically in helping him to improve his awkward, broken Cantonese. Nancy is my oc, and I'll be portraying her in our production (technically a random ensemble member in Someone Else's Skin, but it's her, I swear!!!)
Monica Dove is the secretary that Hanratty mentions in a line in the firing range scene ("this job is not about shooting people! and it's not about punching the clock, waiting for retirement, or enjoying a quickie with the secretary on 3!"). she works at the FBI building in Washington. Agent Dollar is her best friend— although nobody is sure why they get along so well. in a similar vein, she and Agent Cod have a strange rivalry. Cod can't stand witnessing pda, and unfortunately for him, Monica loves randomly appearing in the office and showering Branton with affection as a way to fluster him. Monica is cheeky and clever, and won't hesitate to join in on whatever banter is going on in the office. she's the oc of a friend of mine, who will be portraying her in our production!! (again, technically unnamed cameo character referred to only as "A Lovely Lady" in the script, but it's her, I swear!!!)
Branton's conflicted in his feelings towards these girls. he loves them with all his heart, he really does. at first he thought his attraction towards Monica was purely sexual, but he began to develop romantic feelings for her as well. this made him really upset for a while, because he's supposed to be in love with Nancy— he is in love with Nancy! and because he doesn't understand the concept that a person can feel romantic attraction towards more than one person at once, he is too ashamed to tell Nancy about what's been going on with Monica. he decides he must just be a dirty awful cheater, and spends a lot of time hating himself because of this.

the way I RAN to my sketchbook— I drew her by herself, with carl, and with my oc nancy (wife of agent branton)
Tumblr media
I like to think that Carl had a weird wife.
Tumblr media
Sweet, sunny, the complete opposite of him. Knew each other since highschool (Because of course he'd pick someone he's familiar with, the only person who would actively tolerate and be friendly towards him.) and the only person he considered a 'friend'.

There's a reason why he's against 'cheating' at life..

Chatham Co. NC Genealogies and Histories #northcarolinapioneers
Images of Chatham County Wills and Estates
Chatham County was established in 1771 from Orange County, having been named for William Pitt in 1759, the first Earl of Chatham. It was Pitt who served as the British Prime Minister from 1766 to 1768 and opposed harsh colonial policies. The earliest known settlers were Quakers from England who settled along the Haw and Eno rivers. In 1907, parts of Chatham County and Moore County were combined to form Lee County. The county seat is in Pittsboro, North Carolina and Chatham County is part of the Durham-Chapel Hill area.Among the first settlers were the families of Armistead, Alston, Dodd, Kemp, Edwards, Womack, Brewer, Lambeth, Taylor, Fooshee, Waddell, and Patrick.Chatham County Probate Records available to members of North Carolina Pioneers Images of Wills and Estates 1798 to 1819 Alston, James to Phillip don't you guys hate it when the character you've become overly attached to is exclusive to a certain version of the show so there's little/no fan content

she visited the office a lot. branton and cod had recently transferred, they enjoyed having her around. she talked to them, laughed with them, brought them food. she got carl to loosen up. she remembered things that others didn't care about. she was close with nancy, and by extension, branton. he treated her like family, the same he did cod and hanratty. cod found her annoying. too smiley, too talkative, too much. but he feels that way about everyone, and she grew on him after a while.
one day she stopped coming by. they tell carl that they don't miss her. they're lying. they think it'll help him move on. it doesn't.
